Progress Update 19/11/06

After a slow start work at the house does seem to be progressing again. The builders have fenced off the access to the property (& to our neighbour's which I don't think he'll be very pleased about) and there is a pile of building materials outside the house. They have also removed most of the windows & shutters, removed the timber & concrete floor on one side of the ground floor, removed a partition wall on the ground floor and starting creating holes around the perimeter of the first floor to key in the metal reinforcing rods before the new concrete floor is poured. If work continues at this pace we may not be as far behind schedule as we feared. The builder has also requested plans showing locations of water, waste, electrics etc so he's obviously anticipating things continuing to move forward fairly quickly. We'lll keep our fingers crossed and will keep you posted with any progress!

A spot of sunbathing in Nice!

We’ve just had a couple of days in Nice (France), only about 2.5 hours drive from us. The weather was glorious and I even managed to sit on the beach for a while in between sight seeing & Christmas shopping! It was a nice break although negotiating the road system & traffic in Nice was an experience not to be repeated!

A walk in the woods

1st November was a bank holiday in Italy (All Saints Day). During the afternoon Stefano called round and asked if we would like to go for a walk through the woods around the house. We had a fantastic stroll through the surrounding countryside with Stefano, Isabella, all 5 children, 2 dogs & another friend of theirs from the UK. We walked along roads & tracks, across fields & through woodland and discovered tracks we didn’t know existed & tracks that didn’t really exist! It was a lovely afternoon and an opportunity to enjoy a sunny autumn day & see the wonderful autumnal colours in the woods.
